As part of curriculum rationalisation exercise to reduce the burden of students initiative by HRD Minister, three chapters of almost 70 pages from the history textbook India and the Contemporary World-1 of class 9 will be deleted. The three chapters dropped by NCERT are Clothing: A Social History, History and Sport: The story of cricket and Peasants and Farmers: Growth of capitalism and its effects on their lives.
