Inclusion on Artificial Intelligence (AI) as an optional sixth subject for class 9 in the upcoming academic year has been approved by CBSE. In order to sensitize the students the school may start with an AI ‘inspire module’ of 12 hrs in class VIII itself.

Early Childhood Care Education and Yoga has also been introduced as new subjects at senior secondary level from this academic session.

CBSE is offering class 10 students a choice to opt for a skill paper along with the five compulsory papers. The result of class 10 will be computed on the basis of best five subjects. In case a students is unable to clear science, maths or social sciences paper then it can be replaced by the skill subject. However, the student will have the choice to reappear for the subject during the compartment examinations.

CBSE has urged to schools to offer at least one skill subject at senior secondary level. Applications for skill subjects from 2019-20 session and applications for which must reach CBSE by 31st March.
