Since last year Meghalaya has become one of the few states to have its own education policy after the cabinet’s approval. This has brought about qualitative reforms in education related policies to make it holistic for students. Teacher training, infrastructure improvement, curriculum update in schools, a more streamlined schools and the education system in on the cards.

NCERT syllabus has been introduced for class 11 and 12 science and commerce stream. The students are expected to fare better in JEE and NEET exams due to this. Community centric-vocational courses like handicrafts and other local content may be introduced too. A working committee will review and include relevant syllabus for K-12. Greater autonomy will be given to schools. Collaboration between schools with low enrolments to share resources for the betterment of the students.
