In accordance with the Punjab and Haryana High Court, 220 unregistered schools in Gurgaon, Delhi NCR, has been sent notices for immediate closure by the District education department. An FIR will also be filed against the management of these schools. The tough stand by the government has worried the private institutions as there are more than 60,000 students currently enrolled with them and will adversely affect the livelihood of 250 teachers. A protest march was also held towards the District Mini Secretariat and met the district commissioner too.
The unlicensed/unregularised schools functioning in the district are getting away with charging exorbitant fees from the parents and moreover, are non-transparent in their ways. Many schools on the pretext of implementing the seventh pay commission and upgrading the facilities had increased the fees which had also led to a protest march.
