Last week the Gujarati and English medium students of class 10 of SVPV Vidyalaya, Kandivli Mumbai took their preliminary examinations without being monitored by teachers.  Not even a single incident of any attempt whatsoever to cheat was reported. The Principal and the teachers of the school are thrilled with the success of this experiment as the idea was to build a sense of responsibility and trust among students.

According to the Principal, the school had CCTV cameras installed in the classrooms so last semester the idea was discussed with the English medium students but a lot of students were tempted to copy and thus the experiment had to be abandoned.  However, this year through various sessions the student of the Gujarati medium were made to understand that the prelims were only to assess their preparedness for the boards. Students from the English medium showed interest and thus students from both the mediums took exams sans supervisor.
