A world record will be attempted by lighting the largest number of solar lamps together at the
Global Student Solar Assembly to mark the 105th birth anniversary of  Mahatma Gandhi. Organised by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), this day long event will be held at the Indira Gandhi Stadium Complex in association with IIT Bombay. Hands-on training to assemble one’s own solar study lamp will be provided to the students accompanied by their trainers.

Not one but two Guinness world records will be attempted during the workshop. Firstly, providing sustainability lessons to the largest number of participants at a single place and secondly the largest number of solar lamps lit together. Similar workshops are being organised in other cities in India and abroad.

Over 1 million students across 60 countries will join the global event on a single day and become the Renewable Energy Ambassadors to carry the green energy message far and beyond.
