True to the words Mahatma Gandhi had said that Khadi can unite us as nothing can, CBSE has directed all affiliated schools to voluntarily observe khadi-wearing day at least once a month as part of the celebrations of his 150th birth anniversary.

Khadi is the heritage fabric of India. It not only provides employment opportunities but also promotes unity and equality. The fabric does not leave any carbon footprint. CBSE Secretary Anurag Thakur also said that it was the individual’s choice to find use of khadi in their outfits or accessories. He has also appealed the schools to encourage children to carry jute bags.
