The centre has been directed by the Delhi High Court to take action in accordance with the law after it had a look at a July 2016 HRD Ministry notification to phase out private schools running in several IIT campuses and replace them with Kendriya Vidyalayas. A petition in this regard had been filed by a Kota based activist and former employee of IIT Mandi. Along with implementation of the July 2016 notification the plea has also sought recovery of revenue loss at commercial market rates from IITs concerned for permitting use of their premises by private schools.
