The Tamil Nadu State Council of Education Research and Training (TN SCERT) is training school teachers to handle complaints regarding child sexual abuse and harassment. These sessions started in January and shall be an ongoing process. The training and methodology content is being directly sent to the districts by the SCERT where it will be mandatory for the teachers to take the training sessions. This decision was taken after the Tamil Nadu Commission for Protection of Child Rights (TNCPCR) noticed a sharp rise in the number of disposal of such cases under the POSCO Act. It has also been proposed by an NGO to integrate the message about personal safety and sexuality in the curriculum of teacher training course/program so that they in turn are able to impart the same to the students. Not only this but the personal safety rules must also become a part in the textbooks for students.
