All students and staff members in schools to be sensitized about thalassemia as per the directive issued by The Delhi Government. Thalassemia is a major hereditary genetic disorder. All heads of government, government aided and private schools will be inviting officers/doctors from the health department for the purpose. Effective patients require repeated and regular blood transfusions. Such births can be prevented through awareness, sensitization and timely screening.

Every year 10,000 to 12,000 children are born with Thalassemia in INDIA.
