School students all over India are coming forward to spread awareness towards eco-friendly Diwali. School children in Kanpur have vowed to celebrate the festival of lights in an eco-friendly manner. They are also urging others to follow suit and shun the use of firecrackers. This is a very positive step towards saving the environment. Per a Principal of a school, they have distributed eco-friendly decoration material and earthen lampas to their students and have encouraged them to burn as fewer crackers as possible. Students have also been asked to bring last year’s idols when the schools reopen so that they can do its soil-immersion.
