An ‘Open SSC board’ was launched in Maharashtra for the benefit of students from classes 5 to 12 keen on homeschooling. State Education Minister tweeted that the Maharashtra Rajya Mukta Vidyalay Mandal will be a platform for athletes, artists etc who wish to continue with their academic journey while pursuing other interests and obligations.

Students aged 10 years will be eligible to appear for class 5 exam, at 13 years for class 8 and at 15 for class 10. Application process will close on January 31 and those who register by then will be able to appear for exams in six months.

Students of class 5 and 8 will be able to select subjects from three different groups to the total of five subjects. Study of two languages from the language set and Maths are compulsory for both the classes.

The education department has set up 543 help centers for submitting original documents.
