The Maharashtra state school education and sports department has issued a government resolution (GR) wherein a committee will be formed to study the evaluation norms of different boards. School Education Minister, Ashish Shelar, shall be the president of the committee. The report of the findings is to be submitted within 10 days. These findings will help in revising the assessment pattern for 9 – 12 classes and junior colleges
It was observed that after the department had scrapped the internal assessments for class 10 board (SSC) examination this year, the overall pass percentage had fallen by over 12% which further created a disparity in marks obtained by students of SSC and other boards like CBSE and ICSE. The state has also announced to increase 5 – 8 percent seats in some city colleges for this academic year to accommodate SSC students.
