Speaking during the inauguration of Malpani Foundation’s Dhruv Global School at Nande Village, near Pune HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said that the government will be reducing the classroom syllabus in a phased manner so as equal importance can be given to extra-curricular activities, experiential learning, sports and other life skills for the holistic development of the child. There would be a 10% reduction this year and by 20% next year.

He also said that more than 11 lakh schools will be given special grant from Rs 5000 – 25000 to procure books for library and sports equipment under Samagra Shiksha drive. Around 3000 Atal Tinkering labs have been set up to introduce children to modern science.
