CBSE’s class 12 core english paper inadvertent lapse led to ‘out of syllabus’ questions of 6 marks. The board has prescribed two novels-The invisible man by H.G Wells and Silas Marner by George Eliot and each school or student can choose one between the two of these books to study. In some regions the board set one question from both the books without providing any choice. The parents are demanding that the students be compensated with full 6 marks for the ‘out of syllabus’ questions.
The board has admitted the mistake and has said that there is a mechanism to take care of such issues before finalizing the marking scheme so that no student is put to any disadvantage.
