With the aim of bringing to quality education and bring to task the absentee government teachers, the Gujarat education department has directed all districts to submit information of all those who have been on leave for more than one year by December 6th . The parents too have been alleging the poor results due to this factor. This matter was first brought light by the Gujarat Primary Teachers’ Association during the executive committee meeting of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan held on November 29th.
Rules state that no new teacher can be appointment or transferred till the teacher is on leave as absence does not make the post vacant. Before suspending or dismissing a teacher a notice has to be served thrice seeking explanation for absence.
