Sanitary vending machines will be installed in all the government schools in certain district blocks in Haryana. The schools which have a high number of female students have been selected for the project. The 10 chosen rural schools will be provided with this facility under Swachh Bharat Mission. Both, all girls school and co-educational schools have been selected to receive funds for same.

The 10 chosen schools belong to Pataudi, Haily Mandi, Bhora Kalan, Farrukhnagar, Karola, Bhangrola, Khandwela, Jatola, Abheypur and Kherli Lala. The machines will start being installed by next week and the teachers will be instructed to ensure girls can freely access the facility.

To start with, the focus presently is on schools in rural areas as they are relatively less aware on menstrual hygiene and not to talk about the stigma attached to menstruation. The Gurgaon city schools received menstrual hygiene workshops last year.
