Around 1500 Indian Students of class 11 and 12 in Dubai will now be attending school for only three and a half days a week and the remaining time will be utilized in honing their talents or catching up on academics. Other Private schools too if they want to follow suit will be required to seek approval from the KHDA. The students will be spending half of every Wednesday and the entire Thursday to pursue internships and courses or develop skills both on as well as off campus. The parents too can tutor them at home during this period. Attendance and progress, however, will have to be provided to the school by the parents or the institutions they are attending.

The school timings for class 11 and 12 will be changed to 7.30am till 3.30pm to accommodate the new weakly schedule. The students are thrilled about this initiative.

Parent-Driven Project

Per KHDA chairman, parents could put pressure on schools to implement Rahhal once they see the opportunities it offers. During the open day every month parents and schools meet to know and address doubts, if any. Schools wanting to implements 3.5 day schedule must have parental support and necessary manpower to make it a success.
