Kaamya Karthikeyan, daughter of a naval officer and a class VII student of Navy Children School (NCS), Mumbai, has become the youngest girl in the world to summit Mt. Aconcagua, the highest peak  (6962 m) in South America and outside Asia. On 1st February 2020 she unfurled the Indian Flag on it. Years of rigorous physical and mental preparation, active participation in adventure sports and strong character helped her overcome many administrative hurdles. She also braved extreme climbing conditions to achieve this rare feat.

Kaamya showed deep interest for mountaineering at the tender age of 3. She has already scaled the highest peaks in Africa, Europe, and Australia. In 2021 she wishes to compete for the exclusive ‘Explorers Grand Slam’. This involves climbing the tallest mountains in all the continents and skiing on the North and South Pole which has been  accomplished by very few.
