The Delhi Chief Minister is aiming for a “historic milestone” by launching a project wherein over 1,000 Delhi Government schools will be equipped with CCTV cameras by November this year. The Private schools already have been directed to strictly comply with the order and install CCTV cameras. The plan is to provide live feed from classroom to the parents on their mobile phone through ‘DGS Live’ app available on Google Play. The credentials of the user will be verified through an SMS  from the government control room after which they will have access to live classroom feed.

As against concerns on compromising on the privacy of a student, the chief minister believes this would help improve results of Delhi government schools and also ensure credibility of the government towards people. Also the cameras will provide a sense of safety and instill discipline in children.
