CBSE would be coming down hard on students with attendance less than the prescribed percentage. It has prepared an SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) to deal with such students. The schools will also share the information and rule position to parents and students.

CBSE has asked schools to take the following measures:

  • The importance of attendance will be explained to the students and parents at the beginning of the session.
  • Students and parents will be made fully aware of the relevant rules and mandatory attendance requirements
  • Exceptions to the attendance rules on certain grounds will be made clear
  • Students and parents to be made aware of submitting medical certificate(s) from a competent authority in support of the reason for leave
  • School will maintain record of students not attending classes regularly and parents and students to be warned
  • Parents will be informed regarding shortage of attendance
  • Recommendations made by school to be within the examination laws only
  • Attendance will be calculated as on January 1st of the academic session
  • Board will consider only those cases of short attendance received in the concerned regional office up to 7th January of the academic session of classes 10 and 12
  • No case will be accepted after 7th of January of the academic session of class 10 or 12
  • All cases submitted to be supported with mandatory documents to avoid rejection
