IIIT-B (The Indian Institute of Information Technology) has come up with a technology that can generate touchable images of science diagrams and pictures much faster. A computer algorithm was developed by a group of researchers to automatically transform pictures and diagrams of science textbooks into 3D printable tactile models. A printable file format of textbooks for classes 1 to 10 is being developed. This will decentralise the process of procuring touchable images from a single source and shall ease the process of downloading. This technology is already in use in some of the schools supported by NGO Vision Empower.
