‘Catch them young’ is the new mantra of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). It has put in motion ‘Young Scientist Programme’ or ‘Yuva Vigyani Karyakram’ to provide basic knowledge on space technology, space science and space applications to the students of class 9 onwards.
- ISRO will select three students from each state/UT for the programme irrespective of their boards.
- The students will be provided residential training for two weeks during their summer holidays
- Any child who has passed class 8 recently and is currently studying in class 9 will be eligible
- The selection will be based on their academic performance and extracurricular activities
- Rural students will have special weightage in the selection criteria
- The list of the selected students from each state will be released by ISRO by the end of March
