Thane Municipal Corporation education department has very creatively used the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) funds to give a makeover to its school no. 18, Parabwadi. Its colourfully painted walls along the corridor will tell you about countries and their flags or somewhere small diagrams will give insight into the school and its schedule.
The classrooms are seeing better attendance and students more enthusiastic towards their studies. Corporates have come forward to help set up digital and technology friendly laboratory and classrooms for the students of higher classes. Apart from infrastructure, the self help organisations too and coming forward and focusing on improving the quality of teaching. Amongst others, some english speaking sessions are also organised for the teachers and there is special coaching for dropouts.
With the purpose of improving the quality of education in municipal schools, Rs 9.76 crores of CSR funds have been spent from 2015 till 2017. In their this initiative of TMC, the popularity of the signal school started for the children begging on the streets is worth a mention. TMC is also considering starting a platform school in Mumbra for children loitering on railway platforms.
