Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar was introduced by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) in 2016 to ”recognize, inspire and celebrate excellence in sanitation and hygiene practice in elementary and secondary schools” at district, state and National level.

The Centre has shortlisted three government schools from Haryana to receive this award this year. On September 18 HRD Union Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar would bestow this award to these schools in New Delhi. The highest number of schools qualifying for SVP 2017-18 are from Hisar.

Schools selected from Haryana are Aarohi Model Senior Secondary School (AMSSS), Bhiwani Rohilla, Hisar, AMSSS, Ramgarh Pandwa, Kaithal and Government Primary School, Kirmara, Hisar, Sharma said. Each school will receive a cash reward of Rs 50,000 along with a Certificate of Recognition over and above the school grant to be utilised according to the guidelines provided for improving sanitation and hygiene.
