The commencement of the second phase of the initiative ‘Heart Experts’ by The Ministry of Health and Prevention, MoHAP has been announced. Under this, a selected group of students serve as awareness ambassadors for cardiovascular health in their school, neighborhood and local community.

Launched as an experiment in May last year in Al Mawakeb School in Al Barsha, the trained ambassador students helped organize events and consultations to promote cardiovascular health. With the vision to implement the health system per international standards in UAE by 2021, this initiative is a part the the Ministry’s strategy towards prevention of heart disease.

The three phase programme has selected students aged between 15-17 yrs having good communication skills and charisma attend introductory workshops to educate them about the cardiology programme. The second phase trains for basic principles of cardiovascular health through positive change towards healthy lifestyle and quick response during a heart and brain crises. The third phase will train for spreading awareness on activities and initiatives that promote cardiovascular health socially and physically.
