To ensure safety of students on road the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai announced a trial run of remote monitoring system on school buses equipped with smart cameras, sensors and communication devices. 10 buses are on trial run since last month in the pilot phase.
The system would also be monitoring the conduct of drivers, attendants and students onboard while the bus is on move along with the outer surrounding of the bus, its real-time location and operational conditions. The system shall automatically record three traffic offences like overtaking the school bus when the “stop” sign is on, not wearing seat belts by driver and riders or if there isn’t safe distance between the bus and the other vehicle. Violations made by the bus driver, attendant and operator including school transport law violations like and unlicensed person driving the school bus, operation of any vehicle without permit and failure to operate the electronic ‘stop’ sign will also not be omitted.
