KOOL – an online Open Learning training platform for teachers, students and general public has been started by the Kerela Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE). Registration for the first batch of teacher training commencing next month has already started. State of Kerala is India’s first completely digital state in Education and KOOL is an initiative to train teachers and students on different domains simultaneously. It has been designed on the lines of MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) which is fast becoming popular all over the world.

KOOL’s features include animated learning assistants, video tutorials and checklists for practicing the activities.  It is mandatory for teachers to complete 45 hours of computer course successfully to clear their probation and a certificate to be awarded to them. The six weeks course would include creation of word documents, spreadsheet, presentation, image editing, audio-video editing, development of digital resources, Malayalam typing, internet and education applications. KITE plans to introduce more courses in future for the benefit of all.
