Between December 10-20, the class teachers will assess the comprehensive abilities in Hindi, English and Mathematics of the students from class III-V and VI-VIII and the finding shall be collated by the Directorate of Education (DoE).
The Director of Education Mr Sanjay Goel said that this exercise is being done with the purpose of assessing the level of progress after two years of government intervention in these areas. Based on these finding would the future course in the coming years be decided.
In July 2016, to their dismay, the Delhi government discovered that only 44% of students of classes VI-VIII could read text of their level. They then launched ‘Chunauti 2018’ wherein the students were divided into groups of ‘readers’ and ‘non-readers’ and the non readers got to spend an extra hour in the classes between September 5 and November 14, 2016.
April this year saw this intervention being carried forward as Mission Buniyaad which included students from classes III-VIII and those in MCD schools.
